Sernick supported Global recycling day

Sernick supported Global recycling day

A very successful global recycling day was held at the Civic Centre Kroonstad on 18 March 2022.  The more than 100 delegates were eager to learn how one could make money from waste.  The speakers ranged from Moqhaka LM, SAPD, Coca Cola, South African Waste Pickers and a training session by Petco, the plastic recycling company.  The event was made possible through Green Kid SA, Petco and Sernick.  The delegates also went out to collect waste in the Kroonstad CBD.

The day was organized by Green Kid SA under the able and passionate leadership of the young Moss Kekana who has started a Buy Back Centre about two years ago and operates from a site in the industrial area of Kroonstad.  He will buy plastic, paper and tins from the recyclers.   He also collects large scale waste such as cardboard boxes from the companies such as Roots and Country Meat.  He then bales the waste and it is transported to Johannesburg where he sells it on to the major recycling companies.

Moss Kekana

Moss is being mentored by Petro Naude, the Managing Director of Serdev, the development company of the Sernick Group.  He was taught from an early stage that the success that he wants to achieve, is within himself and it will only be realized if he puts hard work into his business. Money cannot fix a business if the entrepreneur does not have the passion to make it work.  Moss started very small, made sure that he complies to all relevant legislation and slowly built up his Buy Back Centre.   He always develops new plans and carries them out. Earlier this year he was awarded a trailer by the Petco because they believe in his business.

Moss was eager to share all his knowledge about recycling of waste with the audience and his wish was that all the residents of Kroonstad would work together to make Kroonstad a much cleaner place as well as making a better living at the same time!

“Young Moss provides us with hope for the future. He is sharing his passion for recycling to all who wants to participate and as a community we must support entrepreneurs like this!  Learn from him and you can also achieve what he has achieved”;  stated Petro from Sernick  in her motivational address to the delegates.

UREA POISONING GUIDE

WARNING

  • These animal feeds contain urea and other NPN sources. Pellets should be fed strictly according to the directions for use.

  • Animals that are not adapted to urea rations must be fed a salt-phosphate lick for seven (7) days prior to feeding urea rations. Vinegar is an effective antidote for NPN poisoning. Mix equal parts of vinegar and water and dose half a bottle per calf or large sheep and 2–4 bottles per head of cattle (1 bottle = 750ml).

  • Protect feed from rain as NPN can dissolve in water. Animals that consume this contaminated mixture can be poisoned.

  • Do not offer this feed indiscriminately with other feeds that contain NPN.

Contact the Sernick technical staff for further information and enquiries.
