SERNICK GROUP OBTAINS FSSC 22000 CERTIFICATION FOR TWO MORE UNITS IN THE GROUP

Sernick Group recently obtained the FSSC 22000 Certification for two more units in the group. The first unit in the group that attained this certification was the Country Meat Abattoir, and now the Sernick Feedlot and Sernick Feeds also have the doctrines to ensure the safety of the food supply chain.

FSSC 22000 certification is globally acknowledged as one of the highest standards in food safety.

The FSSC 22000 Certification will enable the Sernick Group to offer a wide spectrum of the following;

  • To provide products that, according to their intended use, are safe for the end-user.
  • To effectively communicate food safety issues to their suppliers, customers and relevant interested parties in the food chain.
  • To ensure that the organization conforms to its stated food safety policy and to demonstrate such conformity to relevant interested parties
  • To demonstrate compliance with applicable legal and regulatory food safety requirements.

As a very high level of food safety and hygiene standards had already been reached at the Country Meat Abattior, the additional step of introducing the FSSC 22000 standard to the Feedlot and to Sernick Feeds was nothing less than a logical continuation. With the latest certification to FSSC 22000, the Sernick Group has completed another step to safeguarding production at its present high level and therefore to thoroughly satisfying the requirements of clients from the food industry.

UREA POISONING GUIDE

WARNING

  • These animal feeds contain urea and other NPN sources. Pellets should be fed strictly according to the directions for use.

  • Animals that are not adapted to urea rations must be fed a salt-phosphate lick for seven (7) days prior to feeding urea rations. Vinegar is an effective antidote for NPN poisoning. Mix equal parts of vinegar and water and dose half a bottle per calf or large sheep and 2–4 bottles per head of cattle (1 bottle = 750ml).

  • Protect feed from rain as NPN can dissolve in water. Animals that consume this contaminated mixture can be poisoned.

  • Do not offer this feed indiscriminately with other feeds that contain NPN.

Contact the Sernick technical staff for further information and enquiries.
