I was very much impressed by this annual auction as the first timer and would like to understand your operations further. I am an emerging farmer from Zeerust in North West currently doing my BTech in Agricultural Management with Unisa. I am currently employed as an agricultural coordinator at Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality. I don’t intend to be a public servant for ever.

UREA POISONING GUIDE

WARNING

  • These animal feeds contain urea and other NPN sources. Pellets should be fed strictly according to the directions for use.

  • Animals that are not adapted to urea rations must be fed a salt-phosphate lick for seven (7) days prior to feeding urea rations. Vinegar is an effective antidote for NPN poisoning. Mix equal parts of vinegar and water and dose half a bottle per calf or large sheep and 2–4 bottles per head of cattle (1 bottle = 750ml).

  • Protect feed from rain as NPN can dissolve in water. Animals that consume this contaminated mixture can be poisoned.

  • Do not offer this feed indiscriminately with other feeds that contain NPN.

Contact the Sernick technical staff for further information and enquiries.
