THE SERNICK GROUP’S CORPORATE SOCIAL INVESTMENT INITIATIVES

Our Corporate Social Investment Programme is driven by Patrick Sekwatlakwatla who joined the Sernick Group in November 2014.
Initiatives and programmes are aimed at improving the quality of life of the people residing in the communities within which we operate. This demonstrates our commitment to being a caring company and through our support of relevant and sustainable community activities and partnerships our focus is on making a difference in the lives of our people and our communities.

Our Corporate Social Investment includes the following initiatives:

SUPPORT TO EMERGING FARMERS

Our Farmer Support Programme include farmers days, training of emerging farmers in farm management, financial management, farm infrastructure planning, sustainable beef production, animal health, feedlot basics, carcass competitions, procurement of funding and access to markets.

A Farmers Day was held on 23 January 2015, which was attended by 223 emerging farmers.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF LOCAL CHURCHES

We support our local churches with the upgrading of their facilities, donation of chairs and equipment.

SPONSORSHIP OF VARIOUS SPORTS TEAMS

Through the Sernick Sports Club, we encourage the involvement and participation of our employees and their communities in rugby, football, netball, and road running. In this regard we sponsor two rugby teams, four football teams, two netball teams, and thirty road-running athletes.

EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES OF OUR FARM SCHOOL

During 2015 we aim to commence with a programme to improve the level of education at our farm school including life skills and various cultural activities.
